Namangan Prosecutor’s assistant caught accepting bribe

A senior assistant to the prosecutor of the Chartok district in the Namangan region has been caught accepting a bribe. The news was reported by UzA.  

The assistant prosecutor allegedly demanded $3,000 from a doctor at the district’s multidisciplinary central polyclinic. The payment was requested in exchange for refraining from legal action related to the preparation of fraudulent documents for disability benefits for five citizens.  

Law enforcement agencies detained the prosecutor’s assistant while he was accepting $2,400 of the requested bribe. Material evidence was seized during the operation.  

A criminal case has been initiated against the individual under Article 25.168 (*Fraud*), Part 3, Clause "v" of the Criminal Code. Investigative actions are currently underway.  

This incident follows a similar case in Tashkent, where an investigator from the Almazar district prosecutor's office was recently detained while accepting a $20,000 bribe. These cases highlight the ongoing efforts by authorities to address corruption within Uzbekistan’s legal and governmental institutions.
