Fire breaks out in Moscow dormitory where Uzbeks lived, resulting in casualties

A dormitory in the Moscow region of Russia, where Uzbeks resided, caught fire. The "Dunyo" news agency reported this incident.

The fire occurred on May 23 in a dormitory in the village of Padikovo, Istra district. According to preliminary information from the Consular Department of the Uzbek Embassy in Moscow, about 20 foreign nationals lived in the dormitory, including 11 Uzbek citizens. The fire resulted in the deaths of eight individuals, whose identities are yet to be confirmed. Their bodies have been taken to the Istra Forensic Bureau for identification.

In response to the incident, a criminal case has been opened under Article 109 of the Russian Federation's Criminal Code (Causing death by negligence).

"The consular department of the embassy and the Foreign Labor Migration Agency's representative office in Moscow are monitoring the situation closely," the report stated.
