Mirziyoyev and Aliyev launch a joint factory in Khankendi

2946On November 13, 2024, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan held a meeting during Mirziyoyev's visit to Baku. This was reported by the President's press service.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mirziyoyev congratulated Aliyev on the successful organization of the UN Climate Summit (COP29) and discussed expanding the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. The two leaders emphasized the significant progress in bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of trade, automobile industry, textiles, electrical engineering, agriculture, construction, and urban development.
One of the highlights of their meeting was the launch of a joint garment factory in Khankendi, marking a new phase in economic cooperation between the two countries.
Additionally, the leaders discussed expanding their project portfolio, including the establishment of a Joint Investment Company, and the continuation of cooperation to support the economic development of Afghanistan. They also agreed on the importance of cultural and humanitarian exchanges and preparations for the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan in 2025.
In another significant development, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan signed an agreement on strategic partnership in the field of "green" energy development and transmission during the COP29 summit in Baku.
