Mirziyoyev receives Omani Foreign Minister, discusses regional cooperation

On February 24, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi. This was reported by the Presidential Press Service.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Omani minister conveyed sincere greetings and a letter from Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said to President Mirziyoyev. The two sides discussed ways to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, economic, and financial sectors.
The increasing volume of mutual trade and the growth in joint ventures were highlighted with satisfaction. Business engagements between leading companies of both countries continue to strengthen, and special attention is being given to expanding the portfolio of the Uzbek-Oman Investment Company through new cooperation projects.
It was announced that the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and a joint business forum will take place in April this year.
Additionally, the importance of enhancing interparliamentary relations, cultural and humanitarian exchanges, and establishing direct air travel was emphasized.
The two officials also exchanged views on regional matters, including preparations for the second summit of the Central Asia - Gulf States dialogue, which is scheduled to be held in Samarkand in May.
Previously, it was announced that President Mirziyoyev, along with Kyrgyz President Sadir Japarov and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, will hold their first-ever trilateral summit on March 31.
