Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the presidential candidate from the Liberal-Democratic Party of Uzbekistan and leader of the Entrepreneurs and Businessmen's Movement, strongly condemned the burning of the Holy Quran in Sweden. He described it as an evil act during a meeting with Tashkent voters on July 4.

Mirziyoyev emphasized his opposition to radicalism and extremism, as well as any actions that disrespect the religious values of different nations and peoples. He specifically mentioned the recent incident in Sweden, stating, "We strongly condemn the evil actions committed recently in Sweden, such as burning the Holy Quran. Such situations that insult the religion and noble feelings of millions of people on earth cannot be allowed."

To provide context, on June 28, an event was held in the Medboryarplatsen square in Stockholm, Sweden, with permission from the Swedish police. During this event, Salwan Momika, a 37-year-old immigrant from Iraq, tore out pages of the Quran and burned them. It is important to note that this incident took place on Eid al-Adha, one of the main religious holidays celebrated by Muslims worldwide. The following day, a group of Iraqis protested by storming the Swedish embassy in Baghdad, demanding that the Swedish government extradite the Iraqi immigrant responsible for burning the Quran. The Iraqi government also joined the call for extradition.
