The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, visited the completed Olympic Village in Tashkent today, August 18. The press service of the President reported this.
The foundation stone for the construction of the complex was laid on November 9, 2022. At that time, the Head of State noted that the Olympic Village would become a symbol of the high creative potential of the people of Uzbekistan and the global achievements of Uzbek sports, a modern complex that would be architecturally perfect, energy-efficient, and embody the most advanced innovative solutions.

A magnificent complex was erected on an area of more than 100 hectares. This unique project, worth almost $ 290 million, was implemented by the CAMC Engineering company by international requirements. The city is home to 5 main sports complexes.
In particular, the Velodrome was built on the basis of complex engineering solutions and a unique design. The quality of its wooden covering, trajectory, and turning angles meet the requirements of the International Olympic Committee. In particular, the track is made of the strongest trees, laid in layers. To maintain this quality, the velodrome provides a constant temperature throughout the year. Even the air resistance of cyclists has been taken into account.

The track is illuminated uniformly and evenly. This is not only convenient for athletes, but also meets the standards of spectators and television broadcasting. The seats are designed for 2,200 people. By the new requirements of the International Olympic Committee, a protective barrier has been installed in the spectator areas.
The complex is also multifunctional, and it is possible to hold competitions and training sessions in table tennis and fencing. The velodrome of this level is the first in Uzbekistan. The authorities were tasked with creating conditions in the regions and preparing a program for the development of cycling.
The President emphasized that table tennis is a universal, affordable, and convenient sport, and gave instructions to popularize it in every school and neighborhood, as well as to produce sports equipment. There is a 12,000-seat stadium in the center of the city. Ceremonies are held here during international tournaments. The main thing is that competitions in 48 disciplines of athletics are held on a green field and a 9-lane running track. In particular, it is possible to organize the World Championships, the Brilliant League, paraathletics competitions, and the IBSA Games among the blind. At other times, the stadium is used for dual education through local training camps and practical exercises.

The four-story building at the stadium houses specialists from national teams and sports federations. Athletics and parasports are very effective in strengthening the health of the population. The program for them at the Olympic and Asian Games is also extensive. However, it was noted that these opportunities are not being fully utilized in our country. Therefore, an order was given to develop all areas of athletics. According to it, stadiums in the regions will be reconstructed, conditions for athletics will be improved, coaches will be brought in from abroad, and the goal is to improve the skills of athletes.
It is reported that the huge aquatic palace is also modern and comfortable. It has 25x50-meter swimming and 25x20-meter diving pools, a training pool, and gyms. All conditions and dimensions meet the requirements of the International Olympic standards.

"Recently, a delegation from the World Aquatics Federation inspected the complex and confirmed this. That is, it has the opportunity to organize continental and world championships in swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, water polo, as well as prestigious competitions in the Olympic program. More than 2 thousand fans can watch them," the report says.
The Head of State expressed his views on the development of water sports and improving results in international tournaments. Complexes for team and martial arts sports have also been built by international requirements. Each of them has three floors and 2,000 seats. In particular, the first one can hold training sessions and international competitions in volleyball, basketball, and handball. The martial arts complex will serve as a basis for the development of sports such as judo, boxing, and taekwondo.

The President talked with the athletes here.
"You are raising our flag high at international competitions and demonstrating the development of our country. Each of your achievements is a great source of pride for our people, strength, and encouragement for our youth. We wish you to continue these efforts, encourage children, and further improve our sport," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The Olympic Village also features 15 open fields for football, volleyball, tennis, field hockey, and track and field.
In addition, the construction of a 400-bed Paralympic dormitory and a sports medicine research and development center is nearing completion.
All buildings in the village will be energy efficient, with solar panels installed on the parking areas.
