President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh held talks at the State Palace in Ulaanbaatar, both in a restricted format and with the participation of official delegations. The meeting was reported by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.

At the outset, President Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude to the Mongolian leader for the warm welcome and for the invitation to pay a state visit to Mongolia.

It was emphasized that this visit—the first of its kind in the history of Uzbek-Mongolian relations—marks a new stage in the development of multifaceted cooperation between the two countries. The President of Uzbekistan also extended congratulations to the Mongolian side on the upcoming Day of the People's Revolution.

The two leaders discussed urgent issues related to the further development of friendly and multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Mongolia.

Particular attention was given to strengthening economic ties. It was noted that there is considerable potential to increase mutual trade, especially through the expansion of product categories and volumes in high demand.

To achieve this, the importance of accelerating the adoption of agreements on preferential trade and investment protection was underlined.

President Mirziyoyev highlighted the need to deepen industrial cooperation in specific sectors of the economy. Several promising areas were identified as priorities.

"These include, first and foremost, partnership in the mining sector—such as the development of geological exploration programs, the exploitation of raw material deposits, technology transfer, experience sharing, and personnel training," the report stated.

In this context, it was noted with satisfaction that the Ministry of Geology of Uzbekistan has opened a representative office in Ulaanbaatar to promote projects in this field.

Interest was also expressed in expanding comprehensive cooperation in agriculture, particularly through the creation of joint clusters and the implementation of projects related to the processing and production of meat, dairy, wool, and leather goods.

The talks also focused on enhancing transport connectivity and developing new logistics routes. It is planned to launch direct flights between the capitals by the end of the year.

A proposal was made to conduct practical research in collaboration with the International Analytical Institute to identify the shortest and most efficient transport corridors for landlocked countries.

The two sides agreed to actively promote cooperation between higher education institutions. Uzbekistan will resume the education of Mongolian students within allocated quotas.

The leaders also agreed to adopt a "road map" to ensure the timely and effective implementation of all agreements reached.

At the conclusion of the talks, President Mirziyoyev invited President Khurelsukh to pay a return visit to Uzbekistan.

It is worth noting that on June 24, President Mirziyoyev arrived in Mongolia with his wife on a state visit—the first high-level visit between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992. This visit is considered reciprocal, following the Mongolian President’s visit to Uzbekistan in 2024. During the meetings, both sides signed 14 bilateral agreements and documents.
