Mirziyoyev meets presidents of Finland and Montenegro

1920On November 12, at the COP29 summit in Baku, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held discussions with the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, and the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, according to the President's press service.
In his meeting with Stubb, Mirziyoyev discussed enhancing Uzbekistan-Finland relations. Both leaders noted strong political and inter-parliamentary ties and discussed creating a new economic agenda, particularly in metallurgy, electrical engineering, chemicals, and telecommunications.
"They emphasized the importance of preparing for the next Intergovernmental Commission meeting and business forum in Helsinki in January 2025," the report states.
Further collaboration in education and environmental initiatives, including Finland’s participation in the UN Trust Fund for the Archipelago, was also discussed.
In discussions with President Milatović, Mirziyoyev explored establishing partnerships in the political, trade-economic, cultural, and tourism sectors.
"They proposed creating an intergovernmental commission to guide economic cooperation, with the first session and business forum planned for Tashkent next year," the report states.
Both sides agreed to develop agreements on trade and investment protection and draft a "road map" for industrial collaboration.
Earlier, Mirziyoyev spoke at the COP29 World Leaders' Summit plenary session and also met with Charles Michel, Chairman of the Council of Europe, to discuss expanding Uzbekistan-EU cooperation.
