Mirziyoyev expressed his condolences to Erdogan and Yildirim

As we previously reported, today, March 16, an extraordinary summit of the Organization of Turkic States dedicated to the development of multilateral cooperation in emergency management and humanitarian aid is being held in Ankara, the capital of Turkiye. The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev also took part in it and expressed his condolences to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in connection with the occurrence of two devastating earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 in Kahramanmarash region in the southeast of Turkiye on February 6 of the current year.

"I am pleased to see you all at the extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Turkic States.
On behalf of all my colleagues I extend my deepest condolences to the enduring people of Turkiye and to our dear brother, His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of the Republic of Turkiye," Shavkat Mirziyoyev started his speech.

He also expressed special gratitude to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for his offer to hold an extraordinary meeting.

"Unprecedented and disastrous earthquake that shattered the land of our friends caused deep grief and sorrow in our hearts. Nothing can fill this loss, as this horrible disaster took the lives and injured our beloved parents, brothers, sisters, and children.

It is worth noting that for millennia our brotherly nations have been able to courageously overcome various challenges and problems with unity, kindness, and mercy.

The people of Uzbekistan rushed to help our Turkish brothers in these difficult days by saying “Turkiye! We are with you!”.

The memories of tens of thousands of innocent people who fell victim to this horrible tragedy will always be with us," the President of Uzbekistan said.

In order to pay special respect to the memory of all the people who lost their lives prematurely, Mirziyoyev proposed to declare February 6 every year as the Day of Remembrance and Solidarity of the Victims within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States.

At the end of his speech, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his condolences on the death of the mother of Binali Yildirim, Chairman of the Council of Elders under the Organization of Turkic States.
