8541On May 31, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Bukhara region, as reported by the presidential press service.
"The visit commenced with a benevolent act—a visit to the mausoleum of Bahauddin Naqshband. Quranic verses were recited, and prayers were offered for the peace and well-being of our nation," the report stated.
It was highlighted that, under the president's initiative, the complex is undergoing improvements and restoration to preserve its historical authenticity. These restoration efforts were inspected during the visit.
Firstly, the historical corridor leading from the Toki Miyona gate has been restored. Pilgrims can now approach Bahauddin Naqshband's mausoleum from the Qibla direction, in accordance with Sunnah traditions.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev remarked, "Restoring this gate, which had been in ruins for a century, signifies our self-awareness and respect for history. We must also inscribe the history of each monument here, including the Khans' tombs. This will allow visitors to learn our history step by step and gain spiritual inspiration."
The area surrounding the Toki Miyona gate has been transformed into a garden. Additionally, a museum and toilet facilities were constructed, and the deteriorating Doniyolbiy Madrasah is being restored.
Discussions with scholars emphasized the need for an in-depth study of Bahauddin Naqshband's legacy. It was suggested that resources be acquired from abroad, scientific research should be supported, and the museum should be enriched with content similar to the Imam Bukhari complex. The president also instructed the expansion of facilities for pilgrims, including foreign tourists, and the creation of suitable conditions for both winter and summer.
Officials were directed to develop a decision incorporating the scientists' proposals.
