National Guard personnel are now authorized to use metal sticks, as per the draft law introducing amendments and additions to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the National Guard of the Republic of Uzbekistan," designated as No. ORQ-647, adopted on November 18, 2020. The revised law encompasses modifications to five articles, including adjustments to the second part of Article 3 outlining the main tasks of the National Guard.

Furthermore, Article 6 has been supplemented with the fourth and fifth parts, the term "law" in the fourth part of Article 15 has been replaced with "legislation," and the twenty-first and twenty-second paragraphs of the first part of Article 26 have been removed.

Additionally, the term "rubber" in sub-paragraph "a" and the fifth part of the second part of Article 30 has been substituted with "rubber and special," allowing National Guard personnel to utilize not only rubber sticks but also special metal sticks. These special sticks are notable for their foldable and portable design, and they are employed for apprehending individuals causing disturbances and, if necessary, breaking car windows.

For informational, the draft law was made available for discussion on November 20 and is slated to officially come into effect on December 5. It is pertinent to recall that the National Guard was previously granted the authority to complete administrative reports and levy fines for violations related to ecology and environmental protection.
