The market determines the price of methane in Uzbekistan. On August 1, Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov announced this during a meeting on fuel and energy issues, held by presidential order.
The meeting discussed the removal of the upper limit on methane prices. It was reported that the state no longer intervenes in price setting for this sector, with prices now being determined by market forces.
It is emphasized that granting entrepreneurs the freedom to set prices does not equate to unrestricted actions. The President has instructed the government to implement market mechanisms and prevent unjustified increases in gas prices.
According to reports, the Competition Committee and the Prosecutor General's Office have been tasked with stabilizing prices by presidential order.
We remind you that previously, the price of propane increased from 4,800-5,000 soums to 6,000-6,200 soums at gas stations, and the Competition Committee is investigating the situation within its jurisdiction.
