Abdulla Aripov officially becomes the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan for the third time

4095Abdulla Nigmatovich Aripov, who has served as the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan since 2016, has been appointed to this position for the third time through a decree issued by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
According to Article 94 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan approved the proposal for Aripov's appointment on November 20, 2024.
The Presidential decree, in line with Article 109 of the Constitution, formally appointed Abdulla Aripov as Prime Minister.
Aripov was initially nominated for the role by the Liberal-Democratic Party of Uzbekistan on December 13, 2016, and was confirmed on December 14. He was re-confirmed in the position in January 2020.
Born on May 24, 1961, in Tashkent, Abdulla Aripov graduated in 1983 from the Tashkent Institute of Electrotechnical Communication (now the Tashkent University of Information Technologies). He holds a degree in telecommunications engineering, as well as a candidate degree in economics and the title of associate professor.
His professional career began in 1983 as an electronics engineer at the Tashkent telephone and telegraph station. Aripov held various positions in the Ministry of Communications, later becoming Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan in 2002, overseeing the complex of Communication and Information and Telecommunication Technologies. He also headed the Communications and Information Agency of Uzbekistan from 2005 to 2009.
In 2012, he was reappointed as Deputy Prime Minister, overseeing Information Systems and Telecommunications.
In recognition of his service, Aripov received several honors, including the Order of "For Selfless Services" in 2021, as well as the Order of "Labor Glory", the Order of Friendship of the II degree from Kazakhstan, and the Order of Ismaili Somoni of the II degree from Tajikistan.
It is also important to note that on November 19, 2024, the government of Uzbekistan resigned, in accordance with Article 116 of the Constitution of Uzbekistan and Article 7 of the Law "On the Cabinet of Ministers". The Cabinet of Ministers will continue to exercise its powers until the new appointments are finalized.
