Marco Rubio outlines US goals regarding Uzbekistan

The United States takes great pride in the growing strategic partnership with Uzbekistan. This was stated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in his message on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s Independence.

“On behalf of the United States, I extend my sincere congratulations to the people of Uzbekistan as you celebrate Independence Day on September 1.

For 34 years, the United States has supported Uzbekistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence. The United States takes great pride in the growth of our strategic partnership with Uzbekistan. This partnership has strengthened trade and business ties between our two countries and paved the way for broader cooperation across many sectors”, Rubio said at the beginning of his statement.

He noted that Washington highly values Uzbekistan’s decision to become a full member of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, its ongoing cooperation on issues of illegal migration, and the strong security partnership between the two countries.

“As Uzbekistan celebrates its independence, the United States will continue striving to expand our friendship and to enhance the prosperity of both the United States and Uzbekistan”, the Secretary of State mentioned.

It is worth noting that US President Donald Trump also sent congratulations to Uzbekistan’s leader Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the country’s Independence, expressing hope that the United States would strengthen existing ties and open up new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation.
