Previously, reports surfaced that the head of the Department at the State Institute of Art and Culture in Uzbekistan was apprehended for accepting a bribe. The court subsequently sentenced him to four years of imprisonment, as reported by QALAMPIR.UZ.

Abdurasul Orozov, head of the educational and methodological department at the State Institute of Art and Culture of Uzbekistan, has been in prison since July 28 of this year.

He was acting as the responsible secretary of the admission commission for the 2023-2024 academic year based on the relevant order from the institute's rector. During this time, he leveraged his official position to assist an individual in achieving high scores in creative exams in exchange for a bribe. Consequently, they agreed to enroll this individual in the institute under a fee-contract basis.

On July 28, at approximately 10:10 p.m., Orozov was apprehended with tangible evidence while meeting a citizen in a car he was driving, accepting a bribe of $4,800 from them.

This case was adjudicated on November 21 of this year in an open court session at the Mirzo Ulugbek district court. Abdurasul Orozov was found guilty of committing the offense outlined in Article 210 (Bribery), part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. As per Article 45 of the Criminal Code (deprivation of certain rights), he was barred from holding positions of responsibility in the field of education for a period of two years and was sentenced to four years of imprisonment. The court stipulated that the sentence would be served in correctional facilities, commencing from July 28, 2023.
