A newly appointed Latvian ambassador to Uzbekistan, Jaunzems Girts, was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baxtiyor Saidov, today, on August 15, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on its social media pages.
Baxtiyor Saidov has accepted credentials from a new ambassador.
“We expressed our readiness to further strengthen the long-standing ties between our two nations and to explore new avenues for mutually beneficial cooperation, both bilaterally and within a broader regional framework.
Sincerely congratulate Mr. Ambassador on his appointment and wish him every success in his diplomatic mission in our country”, Saidov said.
Jaunzems Girts replaced Reinis Troksha, who has been a Latvian ambassador to Uzbekistan since 2021. It is stated that Girts has been working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1999, working in legal and economic structures, as well as in positions within the security sector. He has also worked in embassies in Russia, Italy, and Greece. He holds a master’s degree in law from the University of Latvia.
It is worth noting that last year, Temur Abdurahmonov was appointed an extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Uzbekistan to Latvia. Before his appointment, he had served in the position of Consul General in Russia’s Novosibirsk city.
