15567Salohiddin Nuriyev, the head of the Justice Department of Kashkadarya region, voiced his opposition to discussing the activities of civil servants. His remarks at a press conference have circulated on social media, sparking widespread debate.
"There is no such thing as people's money or people's property. Once the money is transferred to the state budget, it becomes state property," Nuriyev stated at the press conference.
The Ministry of Justice has responded to this situation, indicating that it is currently under review. The Ministry will assess the situation based on the findings of this review.
The Ministry also reiterated: “State bodies are accountable to the public in their operations. It emphasized that the activities of the Ministry of Justice are conducted under a principle of strict public accountability.
According to the Constitution of Uzbekistan, the people are the sole source of state power. The state represents the people's will and serves their interests. Consequently, state bodies and officials are accountable to society and its citizens.”
The Ministry stressed that all citizens and civil society institutions have the right to exercise public oversight over the formation and implementation of the state budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan, following the established procedures. Additional information will be provided upon completion of the study.
For background, Salohiddin Nuriyev was born in 1981 in the Sariosia district of the Surkhandarya region. He graduated from the Tashkent State Legal Institute in 2001 and the State and Society Building Academy under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2008. He is a lawyer by profession.
Nuriyev began his career in 2001 as a senior adviser in the Ministry of Justice's State Registration Department for Departmental Regulatory Documents. He has since held various significant positions in the judicial system. From 2014 to 2018, he worked in the Namangan region, from 2018 to 2019 in the Kashkadarya region, from 2019 to 2024 in the Samarkand region, and since February 2024, he has been the head of the Justice Department in the Kashkadarya region.
