Cannavaro calls Turgunboev and Eshmurodov to national team camp

Tomorrow, October 9, the Uzbekistan national football team will face Kuwait in a friendly match. Ahead of the game, a press conference was held with the team’s head coach, Fabio Cannavaro.

During the conference, Cannavaro emphasized that every match is challenging, stressing the importance of full preparation even for friendly games. He also shared his thoughts on the players invited to the current training camp.

’’These players may not have been initially called up by me, but right now, the best-performing footballers are here,’’ the coach said.

Cannavaro also admitted that two players, Turgunboev and Eshmurodov, were included in the squad at his own request.

’’I have reviewed all the matches and decided to call up Turgunboev and Eshmurodov. Playing for the national team is every footballer’s dream. Unfortunately, two of our players have sustained injuries,’’ he added.

Speaking about tactics, the coach noted that playing with three central defenders may seem defensive but actually allows for greater speed when launching attacks.

’’We are working closely with Timur Kapadze; our football philosophies are similar. He has vast experience in Uzbek football. I have no issues collaborating with a local specialist. We might even expand our staff with additional local coaches,’’ Cannavaro said.

The friendly match between Uzbekistan and Kuwait will take place at the ’’Olimpiya’’ stadium in Tashkent. The match will kick off at 18:00.
