UFA issues official statement on Fabio Cannavaro negotiations

Today, October 4, the Football Association of Uzbekistan (UFA) issued an official statement regarding the situation surrounding Fabio Cannavaro.

“The Football Association of Uzbekistan has begun systematic work in all areas in this regard. In particular, efforts are ongoing to invite specialists with international experience and participation in the World Cup to the national team. Negotiations are currently being held with one of the brightest stars of the recent past, World Cup winner and renowned Italian specialist Fabio Cannavaro, who was recognized as the best player in the world in 2006,” the official statement reads.

The UFA also noted that various reports and insider claims have appeared regarding this situation, some of which do not correspond to reality. The Association urged fans not to believe unverified information.

“Detailed and official information about the negotiations will be published on UFA’s official pages. We ask media representatives not to rely on unofficial and unfounded reports circulating on social networks,” the statement added.

It is worth noting that earlier, it was reported that the UFA had reached a verbal agreement with Fabio Cannavaro regarding his appointment as head coach of the national team. International outlets previously reported that the 52-year-old specialist’s annual salary, including coaching expenses, would amount to approximately 4 million euros.
