1836In Uzbekistan, children from low-income families will now receive additional grants and partial reimbursement of contract fees at universities. This announcement was made on February 14 during a dialogue between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the youth of Uzbekistan at the "Kuksaroy" residence.
During the meeting, it was highlighted that education is the most effective way to reduce poverty. To support this, interest-free educational loans, additional grants, and contract fee reimbursements will be provided to at least one child in each low-income family.
A new initiative called the “Bright Talent” project will also be introduced. This project aims to support talented young people from disadvantaged backgrounds who cannot study abroad due to financial difficulties. Talented youth will be identified from each mahalla, and suitable foreign universities will be selected for them. They will be trained in preparatory courses to pursue their education abroad.
Additionally, young people returning from studying abroad will be directly included in the National Personnel Reserve and employed by government agencies without competition. Each year, 1,000 selected young people will be sent to the world's “top 100” universities, with their tuition and living expenses fully covered.
Currently, over 1,500 Uzbek students are studying at leading universities worldwide, which the President noted as an unprecedented achievement in Uzbekistan's history. Returning graduates will be supported in building successful careers in their homeland.
It was also previously reported that young people studying foreign languages at training centers would have their expenses reimbursed.
