9702A criminal case has been initiated against officials from the district gas supply department following the gas explosion that resulted in the deaths of four family members in the Koshrabot district of Samarkand region. The press secretary of the Prosecutor General's Office, Hayat Shamsutdinov, provided this information.
The case was opened under Articles 207 (Negligence in the performance of professional duties) and 259 (Violation of fire safety regulations) of the Criminal Code in connection with the incident in Koshrabot district.
An investigation is currently underway.
"We express our deepest condolences to the relatives of the deceased," Shamsutdinov added.
The tragic incident occurred today, October 22, at approximately 05:52 a.m., in the 6th house of Gafur Gulam Street, in the "Mustaqillik" neighborhood of Koshrabot district. The victims - R.S. (born in 1972), M.I. (born in 1969), F.Kh. (born in 2002), and a minor, D.K. (born in 2007) - died from natural gas poisoning and burns caused by the house fire.
A forensic examination has been ordered by the district prosecutor's office to determine the exact cause of death.
Earlier, a similar tragedy occurred in Fergana, where a man and his two children died of carbon monoxide poisoning, reportedly due to the use of a non-standard, homemade heating stove in their apartment.
