2137In a series of rapid operations aimed at combating illegal drug trafficking, nearly 8 kilograms of narcotics imported from neighboring countries were intercepted across the Surkhandarya, Namangan, and Andijan regions of Uzbekistan, as reported by UzA.
In one case, a resident of Denov district in the Surkhandarya region and his accomplice from Termez city were apprehended with 3 kilograms 849 grams of opium. The two were en route to the Samarkand district for distribution. An investigation revealed that this shipment had been smuggled into Denov by a Tajik drug courier.
During an operation in the Pop district of Namangan region, a Damas car driven by a resident of Chust district, traveling from Tashkent to Namangan, was stopped and inspected. Authorities discovered 2 kilograms 436 grams of hashish hidden in the car's interior. Further investigation indicated that the drugs had been brought to the Ahangaran district in Tashkent region by Tajik drug couriers using a circuitous route, with the driver returning to collect the stash.
In another instance, a Cobalt car traveling along the Namangan-Andijan route in Andijan was stopped. Authorities found 1 kilogram 702 grams of hashish belonging to a Kyrgyz citizen, who had a criminal record related to drug trafficking. The drugs were seized, and it was determined that the narcotics had been smuggled from Kyrgyzstan to Namangan and were intended for sale in Andijan.
Criminal cases have been initiated against the individuals involved under relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and preventive detention measures have been applied. Investigations are ongoing.
Earlier, drug couriers from Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan were arrested, leading to the confiscation of a total of 47.2 kilograms of narcotics they had smuggled into the country.
