Man detained in Namangan for storing and attempting to sell hashish (video)

A man was detained in Uzbekistan's Namangan region after police discovered nearly 39 grams of hashish during an operation targeting the illegal drug trade, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

According to the ministry, officers from the Davlatabad District Department of Internal Affairs apprehended the suspect while he was selling narcotics. He was allegedly caught selling 4.95 grams of hashish to an undercover buyer for 1.2 million soms.

Following the arrest, officers searched the suspect's home in the presence of witnesses. During the search, they found an additional four packages of hashish with a combined weight of 34.41 grams, which were seized and formally registered as evidence.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 273 of Uzbekistan's Criminal Code, which covers the illegal production, acquisition, storage, and sale of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances with the intent to distribute.

A preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Earlier, two individuals were detained in Tashkent's Bektemir district on suspicion of possessing and distributing large quantities of narcotic substances.
