First meeting date of the legislative chamber and senate was announced

2557On November 16, during a session of the Central Election Commission (CEC) focused on registering Senate members of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, it was decided to convene the first sessions of the Legislative Chamber and the Senate on November 18 and 19, respectively, in Tashkent. This announcement was made by the CEC.
The commission registered the senators appointed by Presidential Decree No. PF-187, issued on November 14, 2024. Additionally, the commission reviewed the minutes from joint local council meetings held between November 7 and 12, which addressed the election of Senate members. Based on these discussions, a decision was reached to officially register the elected senators.
As per Article 96 of the Constitution, the first session of the Legislative Chamber will take place on November 18, followed by the Senate's inaugural session on November 19.
Composition of the New Senate:
- Gender: 26.4% of senators are women.
- Age: One senator is 30 years old, 41.6% are aged 40–60, and 56.6% are over 60.
- Education: 98.3% have higher education, and 31.6% hold advanced academic degrees.
- Professional Background: 25% are economists, 26.6% are educators, 13.3% are lawyers, 13.3% are engineers, 5% are medical professionals, and 16.8% are from the cultural sector, entrepreneurship, and agriculture.
Earlier, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree appointing nine members to the Senate.
