In agriculture, it is switched to a closed pipe irrigation system

In order to save water in agriculture, it is planned to introduce a closed pipe irrigation system as an experiment in Pakhtakor district of Jizzakh region.  This was announced yesterday, 18 April, at a meeting held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to discuss the projects and future tasks implemented in the water industry and pharmaceutical industry.

At the meeting, it was noted that 4 billion 800 million dollars less income is received in agriculture due to the low efficiency of canals and large water losses in internal networks.

Therefore, it is planned to introduce a closed pipe irrigation system in Pakhtakor district of Jizzakh region as an experiment.

The head of state heard the proposals of the initiator of this project and supported them.  He emphasized the need to carry out such work in Kashkadarya, Namangan and Syrdarya regions, where water supply costs are the highest.

A task was given to develop a two-year program to approach this scientifically, reduce project costs, and introduce a closed pipe irrigation system.
