Wanted Uzbek citizen detained in Russia for fraud

8916A citizen of Uzbekistan, who had been on the run for committing fraud, was arrested in St. Petersburg, Russia. The detention was confirmed by the Bukhara Regional Department of Internal Affairs.
The individual, identified as O.E., born in 1982, is registered in the Alisher Navoi mahalla of the Shafirkon district in the Bukhara region. He had been declared wanted by the Bukhara City Internal Affairs Bureau for committing a crime under Part 4, Clause "a" of Article 168 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code and had been evading investigation.
Following an operational search, authorities located O.E. at his hiding address in St. Petersburg, where he was detained. His extradition to Uzbekistan has been secured.
It is also worth noting that a 26-year-old Uzbek citizen, who had been wanted in Turkey for four years, was previously detained in collaboration with law enforcement agencies. He had been sought by Uzbekistan's internal affairs authorities since 2020 for committing a theft.
