Officials caught taking bribe in Fergana land fraud scheme (video)

Individuals attempting to sell 22 hectares of land in the Furqat district of Fergana region have been detained, the State Security Service reported.

In January this year, 22 hectares of land in the district were leased to a local limited liability company for the production of construction materials.

However, the head of the LLC, who had previously been convicted, agreed to sell the land to a buyer for 52,000 US dollars, despite having no legal right to do so. He also demanded an additional 15,000 US dollars, making a total of 67,000 US dollars, in exchange for privatizing the land in his name through an acquaintance working at the “Directorate for the Management of Small Industrial Zones” under the regional administration.

The leading specialist of the Directorate for the Furqat district was detained with material evidence while receiving 15,000 US dollars.

A criminal case has been opened against the suspects under Article 25.168 (Fraud), Part 3, Paragraphs “a” and “c” of the Criminal Code. Investigative measures are underway.

It is worth noting that earlier in the Fergana region, a man was detained for receiving 50,000 US dollars in exchange for allocating a plot of land within a hospital territory to an entrepreneur for the construction of a pharmacy.
