A woman in the Kashkadarya region was killed when a carelessly stored hunting rifle accidentally discharged. The press secretary of the General Prosecutor's Office, Hayat Shamsutdinov, informed QALAMPIR.UZ about the incident.

According to reports, Q.N., a resident of "Urta MFY" in the Yakkabog district, was negligent in storing his Toz-16 hunting rifle and its ammunition. On September 22, 2024, he left the weapon unsecured, failing to place it in the safe located in a warehouse near the livestock building in Husen village.

That day, at around 2:30 p.m., Q.N.'s daughter-in-law, M.J., entered the barn to clean and attempted to place the gun in the safe. At that moment, the rifle discharged, striking the woman in the head. She died instantly from her injuries.

As Q.N.'s negligence in storing the weapon led to the fatal accident, a criminal case was initiated on September 24, 2024, by the district prosecutor's office under Article 249 of the Criminal Code (violation of the rules for storing, carrying, and transporting weapons and their ammunition). The case has been transferred to the investigative department of the Yakkabog district DIA.
