New head of Combating Economic Crimes Department appointed

In accordance with a relevant Presidential Decree, Senior Adviser to Justice Jahongir Juraevich Khatamov has been appointed Deputy Prosecutor General and Head of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes. The news was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

He replaces Shamsiddin Sokhibnazarov, who was appointed to the position in January last year. Jahongir Khatamov has served as Deputy Prosecutor General since August 2023. He previously held the position of First Deputy Prosecutor of Jizzakh Region from 2016 to 2017, and First Deputy Prosecutor of Tashkent City from 2017 to 2018. From February 2018 to October 2020, Khatamov served as Prosecutor of Khorezm Region.

It should be noted that earlier, Senior Adviser to the President Inoyat Rahmatullaevich Shukurov was dismissed from his position as First Deputy Head of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office. Additionally, Senior Adviser to the President Muhammadjon Nabijonovich Ruzmatov was dismissed from his position as Head of the Tashkent City Department of the same agency and was released from service.
