15369The Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent has issued a warning regarding a surge in online fraud cases where scammers create fake profiles on Telegram, impersonating high-ranking officials from various ministries, departments, and organizations. These profiles deceive employees by posing as their superiors and extracting sensitive information.
In these schemes, fraudsters contact employees, posing as their managers, claiming that law enforcement agencies need information about the employee for an investigation. Shortly after, an individual pretending to be a law enforcement representative reaches out, asking for specific details. Trusting the impostor, employees provide personal information, which often leads to unauthorized transactions on their bank cards.
"Any suspicious message by directly contacting the person purportedly sending it. Always double-check before trusting SMS or messages that request sensitive information," the police urge citizens to verify.
For assistance or to report similar incidents, citizens are encouraged to contact the Tashkent police at 71-206-55-00 or 102.
