Fergana gas station explosion claims 3 more lives

23051The number of victims from the explosion that occurred on December 17 at a gas station in Fergana city has risen by three, according to the regional Department of Internal Affairs.
The incident took place at the "Petroleum" propane gas station located in the Yangiyul neighborhood. During the refueling of a 5 cubic meter container, a crack formed, leading to a gas leak that triggered an explosion and fire.
As a result of the explosion, one person died at the scene, while several others were hospitalized with varying degrees of injuries. Despite receiving medical treatment, three more victims succumbed to their injuries in the hospital, raising the total death toll to four.
A criminal case has been initiated under Part 3, Clause "a" of Article 257 (Violation of Labor Protection Rules) and Part 3, Clause "a" of Article 259 (Violation of Fire Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code.
As part of the investigation, five people have been taken into custody. Authorities have ordered relevant examinations, and investigative actions are ongoing to determine the cause and responsibility for the incident.
It should be recalled that earlier reports indicated one person had died as a result of the explosion at the gas station.
