5941A criminal case has been opened against a woman serving as a nanny for a 2-year-old child in Fergana city, Fergana region, under a power of attorney. The nanny has been detained as part of the investigation, according to a statement from the Children's Ombudsman.
Authorities report that on January 5, a woman identified as M.Kh. was brought in as a suspect under Article 117, Part 1 (Leaving in Danger) and Article 104, Part 2, Subparagraphs "b, c" (Intentional Infliction of Serious Bodily Harm) of the Criminal Code. She was detained in accordance with Article 221 (Grounds for Detention) of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The preliminary investigation will ensure a comprehensive review of any actions that may have endangered the life and health of the child.
According to available information, a woman named G.M., born in 1988 and residing in Fergana, entrusted her daughter, G.I., born in 2022, to the care of 36-year-old M.Kh. in August 2024. This arrangement was made under a power of attorney as G.M. left for work in Russia.
During this period, G.M. regularly sent money to M.Kh. to cover the nanny's services and the child's daily expenses.
On November 15, despite 2-year-old G.I. sustaining serious injuries after falling down the stairs at home, the nanny failed to seek medical attention for the child, thereby endangering her health. The child was later diagnosed with a concussion and other severe, life-threatening injuries.
On December 28, the Investigation Department of the Federal Bureau of Internal Affairs of the Fergana City Internal Affairs Department initiated a criminal case against M.Kh. under Part 1 of Article 117 of the Criminal Code (Leaving in Danger).
