Students electrocuted while attempting to take a selfie on a train in Fergana

In the Uchkuprik district of Fergana region, schoolchildren attempting to take a selfie on top of train cars were electrocuted. This incident was reported in the "Zamon" program.

The Regional Transport Safety Department was notified of the incident on September 17 at around 1:00 PM. Upon receiving the report, an investigative team promptly arrived at the scene.

It was discovered that two 10th-grade students and one 8th-grade student from School No. 1 in the Buvayda district had gone to the railway station in Uchkuprik. They illegally crossed the tracks in an unmarked area and entered a restricted zone.

While trying to take a selfie by climbing on top of a wagon carrying wheat, two of the teenagers were electrocuted. Both were immediately rushed to the hospital with varying degrees of injuries.

The first student was admitted to the intensive care unit, having sustained burns covering 63 percent of his body. The second student suffered thermal burns and a fractured right femur.

Earlier, in an unrelated incident in Tashkent, a mother of three lost her life after being struck by a train.
