In Ferghana, a video of police officers beating a citizen went viral.  The department of Internal Affairs commented.

A video of the beating of a Fergana citizen by police officers, witnessed by several people, was distributed on social networks.  The video shows two employees strangling, beating, and kicking a citizen.

The situation was commented on by Interior Ministry spokesman Shahrukh Giyasov.

According to a representative of the Ministry, the incident on the video took place on 14 July 2021, in the department of Internal Affairs of Fergana.  In connection with this situation, the procurators office initiated criminal proceedings under article 206, paragraph 1, of the Criminal Code and referred the matter to the judicial authorities for consideration on 2 December 2021.

This criminal case was considered by the department of Criminal Affairs-court of the Fergana region on 23 August.  According to the appeal procedure, there were no signs of a crime in the actions of the employees and an acquittal was issued.

The representative of the Ministry did not provide detailed information on the case of the acquitted officers who had beaten the citizens.
