A woman who attempted to bribe an officer of the internal affairs body with $3,000 was apprehended in the Beshariq district of the Fergana region, according to the Regional Department of Internal Affairs.

The suspect, a 34-year-old resident of Namangan, approached investigators from the Beshariq district's investigation department regarding charges under Article 169, Part 3, Paragraph "a" (Theft) of the Criminal Code. She allegedly offered the bribe to have the charges dropped and the preventive detention order against her acquaintance canceled.

Despite being repeatedly informed by the officer that bribery is a crime, the woman persisted. She was caught during a sting operation while handing over $2,100 of the intended bribe. The money was seized as material evidence.

A criminal case has been initiated against the suspect under Article 211, Part 1 (Bribery) of the Criminal Code, and an investigation is underway.

In a similar case reported earlier in Syrdarya, an inspector promised to influence an investigation in favor of a driver involved in a traffic accident in exchange for $400. After inspecting the scene and assigning a medical expert to assess the injuries of a passenger, the inspector placed the driver's car in a penalty area. Days later, the inspector demanded a bribe from the driver in his office. The inspector was subsequently arrested and deprived of his freedom.
