On the 21st of May, reports surfaced on the popular messaging platform Telegram regarding the illegal felling of trees near the "Andarkhan" border post.  The Press Service of the Fergana Regional Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources has provided a comment on this concerning incident.

According to the statement, unidentified individuals have unlawfully uprooted three decorative willow trees and nine fir trees near the "Andarkhan" border post, which is located in the Beshariq district of the Fergana region.  This has resulted in an estimated financial loss of approximately 100 million soms.

The department further stated that the collected documents have been submitted to the regional prosecutor's office to clarify the identity of the offenders and provide a legal assessment.

It is worth mentioning that news had previously spread regarding the cutting down of trees on the central street of Tashkent city.  The responsible ministry, when commenting on this situation, noted that the action was carried out by the brigade of the improvement department based on the relevant conclusion.

For your information, in Uzbekistan, the amount of fines for illegal cutting, felling, damage, destruction, or transplanting of trees, shrubs, and other plants and seedlings has been increased.  On the 3rd of May, during the fortieth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, responsibility for illegal tree cutting or logging was defined in four articles of the Code of Administrative Responsibility.  Considering the existence of different fine amounts and disproportion in these articles for the same administrative offense, changes were made to establish uniform responsibility for one type of administrative offense in one article.
