3163On November 11, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced at the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit that Uzbekistan is prepared to provide medical treatment for Palestinian children and women injured in the ongoing conflict, regardless of background. In response to questions from QALAMPIR.UZ regarding the readiness of Uzbekistan's healthcare system to support such an initiative, Deputy Minister of Health for Children and Women's Affairs, Elmira Bositkhonova, affirmed the country’s capacity to meet this need.
Bositkhonova explained that Uzbekistan has sufficient resources and medical expertise to accommodate Palestinian patients. “The president likely considered our capabilities before making this proposal. Yes, we have adequate facilities and specialized personnel to treat them. For instance, special hospitals constructed during the COVID-19 pandemic are available. However, details like patient numbers, distribution plans, and specialist involvement will only be finalized once an official directive is given. If the government issues an order, a dedicated roadmap will be developed to guide the process,” Bositkhonova stated.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, since October 7, Israeli attacks have resulted in 43,603 deaths, mostly women and children, with an additional 102,929 people injured, including women and children.
President Mirziyoyev also announced that the upcoming "Gulf Arab States - Central Asia" summit, set to take place in Samarkand next year, will address practical ways to assist the Palestinian people.
