Utkir Yusupov, the goalkeeper for the Uzbekistan national team, embarked on a 2,400-kilometer journey by car from Khuzestan, Iran, to Ankara, Turkey. This was reported by "Metaratings."

Yusupov’s unusual trip was prompted by the temporary closure of Iranian airspace. Despite the challenges, he chose to drive in order to avoid missing a crucial match for the national team, opting for the fastest available land route. From Turkey, Yusupov made his way to Uzbekistan.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper has been playing for Iran’s Fulad club since July 2024. So far, he has played in seven matches, conceding four goals and keeping four clean sheets.

As a reminder, today, October 10, Uzbekistan's national team will face Iran in the 3rd round of the World Cup qualifiers. The match is set to kick off at 19:00 at the "Bunyodkor" Stadium.
