4973In Uzbekistan, an additional obligation is now imposed for environmental violations and damage to nature. This is outlined in the "Uzbekistan-2030" strategy, which was approved by Presidential Decree.
Starting from November 1, 2023:
• A mechanism for suspending financing, lending, and other financial operations will be introduced for objects that have not received a positive environmental expert opinion.
• In addition to compensating for damage caused by environmental violations, there will be an obligation to restore the damaged natural environment and ensure its protection for a certain period of time.
We would like to remind you that the "Law on Amendments and Additions to the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan" was discussed during the fortieth plenary session of the Senate on May 3 of this year.
Under this law, for illegal cutting, uprooting, damage, destruction, or transplantation of trees, bushes, other plants, and young plants, citizens will now face fines ranging from 10 to 15 times the BHM (previously it was 5 to 10 times). For officials, the fines will range from 15 to 20 times (previously it was from 10 to 15 times)."
