In Uzbekistan, individuals who take photos or videos of law enforcement officers while they are performing their duties and distort them in a way that discredits them will now face fines of up to fifty times the basic calculation amount or up to 10 days in prison. This was established by the law “On Amendments and Supplements to the Criminal, Criminal Procedure Codes of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Connection with the Improvement of the Road Safety System”, adopted on February 20.

It is noted that the document introduces Article 195-2 in the Code of Administrative Responsibility. According to this article, the distortion and distribution of photos or videos of law enforcement officers taken while they are performing their official duties to ensure public safety—especially if such materials are shared online—will result in a fine ranging from twenty to fifty times the basic calculation amount or administrative detention for up to ten days.

The law will come into force upon its official publication.

We would like to remind you that earlier, it was reported that criminal liability had been introduced in Uzbekistan for driving under the influence or evading a traffic police check.
