There are many unresolved issues in terms of religious freedom – Akmal Saidov

Although Uzbekistan organized considerable efforts to promote religious freedom in the county, many unresolved issues have remained.  This was stated by the first deputy speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) Akmal Saidov at the international forum «Dialogue of Declarations» which was held in Bukhara.

According to Saidov, special attention is given to the matters of the provision of religious freedom in the country.  The reforms of religious freedom are now the main part of Uzbekistan’s political-legal reforms.

“Cooperation in the sphere of freedom of conscience is carried out not only through international organizations but also at the national level, including through foreign state structures and civil society.  Despite the significant work carried out in our country, there are still many unresolved issues or insufficient attention”, –Saidov said.

According to his statement, Uzbekistan is ready for constructive dialogue on all aspects of religious freedom.
