On January 15, a total of 118,646 subscribers across Uzbekistan received SMS warnings regarding unpaid waste collection fees amounting to 9.3 billion soums. The notifications were sent from the short code 2100 of Hududiy Elektr Tarmoqlari JSC, according to the Agency for Waste Management and Circular Economy Development.
The agency reported that the warning campaign is still ongoing. If subscribers fail to settle their outstanding debts within five days of receiving the notification, temporary restrictions will be imposed on their ability to make electricity payments.
For reference, this procedure applies to debts accrued for waste collection services starting from July 1, 2025. The system has been implemented on a monthly basis since November 1, 2025.
It is worth noting that earlier reports revealed serious violations in the provision of household waste collection services to residents in Tashkent Region. Nearly 250,000 consumers were charged more than 8.8 billion soums unjustifiably. In some cases, waste was not collected at all or services were not fully provided, yet charges were still applied.
