3694At the "Yallama" border post in the Tashkent region, connecting Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, a citizen was apprehended for attempting to smuggle an air pistol and 1,500 rounds of ammunition. The Tashkent Regional Customs Department press service reported the incident.
During a routine inspection of a cargo vehicle at the border, customs officers discovered a 4.5 mm "Stalker S84" air pistol and 1,500 rounds of ammunition hidden among the passenger’s personal belongings. The items were neither declared nor mentioned during the oral inquiry.
The investigation into the case is ongoing.
As per Uzbekistan's Law on Weapons, the import, export, and transit of civilian and service weapons, along with their ammunition, are strictly regulated and require appropriate permits from relevant authorities.
This incident follows a similar case in the Samarkand region, where a Turkish citizen was convicted for attempting to smuggle combat ammunition through customs. The individual confessed to unintentionally carrying leftover ammunition from a training session. The court found him guilty under Part 1 of Article 246 of the Criminal Code and fined him 100 times the minimum wage (37.5 million sums).
