Drug smugglers trapped with 230kg of heroin at Uzbekistan border

An attempt to smuggle 232 bags of heroin weighing about 230kg which was concealed in a truck has been uncovered at a border customs post «Oybek» of the Tashkent region.  This was reported by the State Customs Committee.  
In the report, a truck leaving for Russia which contained cotton fiber weighing 21 tons out of 645kg was stopped and inspected at a border customs post.  Further investigation uncovered a suspicious situation.   

The truck was then transported to the warehouse of the Yangiyul district customs post under the special supervision of the operational structures.  The reason for relocating the truck to a different customs post was for safety concerns.  
A total of 107 cotton bales were unloaded at the [Yangiyul customs post] customs warehouse. As a result of investigation, 232 packages were found at the hidden site.

The total weight of 232 parcels, including the wrapping film, amounted to 245 kg 200g.  Experts’ opinion confirmed that the drugs seized were all heroin.  The net amount of heroin seized was 229kg, 719gr.
