The driver of a Captiva who drove into people during a dispute at a football match in the Saykhunabad district of the Syrdarya region has been sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison. This incident, which we previously reported, has now been detailed in the "Zamon" program.

According to reports, a criminal case was initiated against the driver under Article 277 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan by the Syrdarya regional law enforcement officers. The driver was arrested, and his car was placed in the impound lot.

"During the second spin, I unintentionally hit my friend. After everything that happened, I panicked and drove towards the stadium gate. People started throwing stones at me, so I drove home. I apologize to everyone," during the trial, the driver explained.

Despite the victims declaring that they had no claims against the defendant, he was sentenced for endangering the lives of residents and fleeing the scene.

His sentence will be served in a strict regime colony, as he had previously committed a crime under the same articles. The court took into account that after serving his prior sentence of restricted freedom, he failed to show any improvement in his behavior.

Additionally, the Captiva used in the incident was deemed a weapon of crime and was confiscated by the state.

As a reminder, in a separate incident, a Lacetti had crashed into a store in the Kattakorgan district of the Samarkand region.
