Girl was arrested for threatening to share a romantic video of her boyfriend in Bukhara (video)

A girl was arrested in Bukhara for threatening to release a romantic video of her boyfriend to his family unless he paid her $5,000, according to a report by the regional Department of Internal Affairs.

Authorities stated that the 19-year-old woman, a resident of the Varakhsha neighborhood in Bukhara, demanded the sum from a 26-year-old man from the Kogon district. She allegedly threatened to share confidential videos of their romantic relationship with his family members and to report the matter to law enforcement if he did not comply.

On November 13, during an operation conducted by officers of the Bukhara Regional Department of Internal Affairs, the suspect was apprehended with material evidence. She was detained near the Textile Market in Bukhara while receiving the $5,000.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 165 (Extortion) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and preliminary investigations are ongoing.

This incident follows a similar case in the Bukhara region, where a young man was detained for threatening to distribute indecent photos of his girlfriend on social media.
