17102A woman in the Bukhara region fell victim to fraud on October 24 when an unknown individual, exploiting her fear of an impending “disaster,” convinced her to hand over her gold jewelry.
According to the Regional Department of Internal Affairs, the incident took place around 9:15 a.m. in the Rabotpayon neighborhood of Bukhara district. The suspect persuaded the woman that her valuables needed to be “protected” to avoid a supposed catastrophe. Following the incident, authorities opened a criminal case under part 2 of Article 168 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code. The suspect, born in 1985 and a resident of the Bukhara district, was identified. Investigations are ongoing, with suspicions that he may have had accomplices.
Previously, a 12-year-old boy and his mother were detained in Tashkent on charges of stealing gold worth 49 million soums from a jewelry store in the “Eski Jova” market.
