A senior assistant prosecutor from the Jondor district of the Bukhara region was arrested for attempting to take a $2,500 bribe. The prosecutor had demanded $3,000 in exchange for ensuring that a court's verdict would remain unchanged during its review in the cassation court. This was reported by the State Security Service.

According to the report, in June 2024, the Jondor district prosecutor's office initiated a criminal case against the head of a farm specializing in cotton and grain production. The charges were under Article 167, Part 2, Subparagraph "a" of the Criminal Code, which pertains to robbery through appropriation or embezzlement. In November 2024, the district court heard the case, and the defendant was sentenced to 2 years of correctional labor along with a fine amounting to 20 percent of his monthly salary.

However, the regional prosecutor's office appealed the verdict, arguing that a more severe punishment should have been given.

Aware of the situation, the senior assistant prosecutor demanded $3,000 to influence the judge’s decision and ensure that the verdict would remain unchanged. He initially received $500 as part of the bribe. However, when he collected the remaining $2,500 in Bukhara, he was apprehended by officers from the State Security Service and the prosecutor's office, who seized the material evidence.

A criminal case has been opened against the prosecutor under Article 25.168, Part 3, Clause "c" of the Criminal Code (Fraud), and an investigation is ongoing.

It is worth recalling that earlier, National Guard officers in Tashkent city and region were detained for accepting bribes in exchange for employment in the National Guard system.
