Chess Olympiad starts today

Today, September 11, the World Chess Olympiad will begin in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. The men's team from Uzbekistan will defend their title as the current champions of the tournament.

A total of 193 teams and 181 women's teams will participate in the open program of the 45th World Chess Olympiad.

The composition of the Uzbekistan national teams is as follows:

Men's National Team:

Nodirbek Abdusattarov;
Javokhir Sindarov;
Nodirbek Yokubboev;
Shamsiddin Vohidov;
Jahangir Vahidov.

Women's National Team:

Afruza Hamdamova;
Nilufar Yokubboeva;
Umida Omonova;
Marjona Malikova;
Nodira Nodirjonova.


In the first round of the competition, the men's team will face representatives from Trinidad and Tobago, while the women's team will compete against players from Haiti. The tournament will be held in the Swiss system format and will consist of 11 rounds.
