Earlier, a criminal case had been opened against former Deputy Interior Minister Bekmurod Abdullayev and former head of the Execution of Punishments Department Rustam Tursunov after it was revealed that 186 billion soums in state budget funds had been embezzled in public procurement within the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan. The former officials have now been released after compensating for the damage. This was reported by Abdurahmon Tashanov, head of the Ezgulik Society.
According to him, a total of seven officials, including Bekmurod Abdullayev and Rustam Tursunov, who were accused of causing more than 186 billion soums in damage to state interests, were released on the evening of April 15.
“The release of these officials after compensating for the damage has caused justified dissatisfaction among more than 60 other defendants. We will continue to monitor developments and expect an official explanation,” Abdurahmon Tashanov said.
It is worth noting that the criminal case against the two officials was first announced on January 27 this year during a videoconference meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the Main Directorate of Security under the Tashkent City Internal Affairs Department.
